The Best Altec Lansing inMotion iPod Speaker
It is sleek and sexy, with a few curves to boot. No, it’s not your hot neighbor, it’s just a cool looking Altec Lansing inMotion iPod Speaker. Nobody wants something that looks awesome but it sounds like crap. So how do these puppies sound? They play several types of music great while stumbling on a few others.
Will these play your favorite tunes? Let’s see what the Gophers think…
They look good and sound great. The Altec Lansing inMotion speakers are ultra-portable; you can pop them in the case and take them wherever you go. For the price, they deliver the tunes. Some other similar priced speakers can’t say the same.
This isn’t a cheap, easily busted speaker. They are sturdy and stylish, while still managing to pound out the sound. They could have included a remote, but that is a minor gripe. The only real thing that bugged us was where the buttons were placed. That being said, the price is great. For the sounds that flow… it’s well worth the dough.

The Altec Lansing inMotion Speakers have a little sass and a lot of class. They will look great wherever you put them, whether it is on the bookshelf or the back porch.
Altec Lansing inMotion Speakers Setup
Easy as pie. Just take the case off and use it as the stand. All you need to do is set it up and go with the flow. One thing you need to remember is that if you pause it for over a minute, it will get sleepy and go into power-saving mode. When you wake it back up, the volume will be around half of what it was.
Not too shabby. The highs were high and the lows were….well, somewhat low. The volume can go a little crazy at higher levels with the bass, on rock and rap. If you keep the sound at “normal people” levels, you will not have a problem. The other music the Gophers ran through it sounded great, you get a lot of bang for your buck with this little jewel.
Should you buy it?
If you are looking for a solid unit at an affordable price, you will enjoy this little beast. There are a few issues though. The cover doubles as a stand but looks flimsy and breakable. The buttons can also be a pain in the butt if your hate reaching around your iPod to use the controls.
If those issues don’t bother you and you want something that sounds great, then you may want to check it out. Overall, you get a lot of sound for the price!
- Can run off batteries
- They sound pretty damned good
- Lightweight and portable
- Small, about the size of a book
- No remote control
- The button placement sucks
