Is the Razer Imperator Gaming Mouse any good?
Wow, once I got this mouse away from Greg and Zach, I was able to see what they were so excited about. The 5600 DPI sensitivity of this mouse really makes it perfect for gaming, especially when you want to zap the bad guy in the head. Not only that, but it’s just as good for graphics; that precision makes it really easy to use this laser gaming mouse for pixel by pixel adjustments to your favorite gopher graphics. What a mouse!
The Razer “Imperator” is setting the standard for the next generation of laser gaming mice. This ergonomic beauty is not only comfortable to use hour after hour but incredibly accurate and fast as lightning. The seven buttons on the Imperator are fully programmable; with up to five profiles so that you can set it up differently for different games. Mouse resolution (sensitivity) can be changed “on the fly” with the touch of a button and a roll of the wheel. The rubber, non-stick coating, keeps it from slipping in your hands, even in those sweaty moments at the end of a game level.
Razer calls themselves a company of gamers, making stuff for gamers. Well, if this is how gamers design them, maybe we need more gamers engineering our cars, airplanes, furniture, and computers.
The sensitivity of this mouse not only makes it quick to move through that game level but allows you to zap the bad guys right in the head. No more problems with the mouse causing your aiming reticule to jump from one side of the target to the other. You can pick which eye you want to zap ‘em in with this one. After using a mouse with this kind of sensitivity, you’ll never want to go back to anything less.
The ergonomic design means that your hand won’t get tired, even if you’re playing for hours. They’ve even taken into consideration the difference in how people hold their mice (palm-grip or claw-grip) and built a quick adjustment into the mouse to change the position of the button; accommodating everyone’s style. What a great laser gaming mouse. This is going to be the one for everyone else to try and beat.
Rubber coated black; can it get any sexier than that? The scroll wheel and logo light up in Razer’s signature blue, making sure that everyone knows what you’re using. The rubber-coated top and main buttons are really great on, or should I say under your hand. The cord is extra long (7 feet) and braided, making it both sturdier-looking and sturdier wearing than a regular rubber coated cord.
Plug-n-Play is here to stay. With the gold plated USB connector, all you’ve got to do is plug it in and you’re ready to go. Drivers should install automatically; which you’ll need for programming the buttons.
Quiet. Even though Razer’s about keeping the Imperator laser gaming mouse quiet. Teflon feet mean that it slips across your mouse pad as quiet as a ninja getting ready to cut someone’s throat.
Should you buy it?
If you want a top quality laser gaming mouse, I don’t think you’ll beat this one. Here at gopher labs, we’re all fighting over this one. I might even have to go out and buy my own.
